August 30 – Car free Sunday, Barrie Waterfront
What: CAR FREE SUNDAY EVENT - This is a FREE all ages event.
When: SUNDAY, AUGUST 30, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m
Where:
LAKESHORE DRIVE Between Tiffin St. and Minet's Point Rd. closed
to vehicular traffic, roadway reserved for recreational use only.
Who: During the event, many attractions will be located on the
roadway along Lakeshore Drive such as the Bike Rodeo by the Barrie
Police and learn about helmet safety. Stop by the Bicycle Museum and
receive a free bike inspection. Try a rollerblading clinic or poling
(Nordic Walking). Visit the South Shore Community Centre and browse
information displays by the Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit featuring
bicycle helmet safety. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
will be holding a
Big Bike Fundraiser, please visit their web page if you would
like to enter a team. Learn more about Living Green (Environmental
Action Barrie) and City of Barrie active transportation initiatives.

How: Walk or Wheel,
Free Barrie Transit Tickets (see Transit Map) or Carpool down to
the waterfront, free parking available in Centennial Park. When
parking, consider using the Free weekend
Waterfront Bus Shuttle to connect to the waterfront.

Good For Life —
Active Barrie Coalition...
proudly presents an action filled day for families to access
a variety of recreational activities throughout the
community. Barrie’s public, private and charitable sectors
have generously sponsored this event.
Go Figure! Will be running fitness classes for all ages at Sunnidale
Park from 10 am to noon. Please come and join us. Running every half
hour on the hour. Children and youth welcome. Everyone is welcomed
to join.
September 15 - Barrie Biggest Loser Challenge
Barrie’s Biggest Loser Challenge is a terrific promotion happening
in September. Go Figure! will be presenting Barrie's Biggest Loser
in partnership with the Barrie Examiner. It will be a 12-week
challenge for 25 Barrie Residents who will compete with each other
to re-shape their lives.
We have some great sponsors donating prizes to our challengers. We
also will have weekly challenges in in which, each challenger will
have the opportunity to receive the weekly challenge prizes, which
will vary.

Fit Ball is a 45 minute fitness class using a stability ball, hand
weights, tubing and babies. It is an excellent full body workout
that improves functional strength, core stability, flexibility,
balance and posture. This class is for everyone!
So bring your babies and a ball and get ready for fun! (10 weeks)
