Why prenatal and postnatal massage therapy?
Massage Therapists can provide both supportive and therapeutic components of care during pregnancy, labour and after labour. Massage can provide an increased sense of general well-being, address specific issues and symptoms during pregnancy.
Each Massage Therapy session may integrate a teaching component to help prepare for the birth. This can include instruction regarding breathing and relaxation techniques and exercises that include stretches and strengthening, such as squats, pelvic tilts, and pelvic floor exercises.
Massage Therapists can teach massage and self-care strategies to partners so that they are engaged in the pregnancy journey as well. This can be done in an individual session, or in small groups.
